Internet security 2006 live update error

Can anyone help me please. I am unable to connect to the live update site or any Symantec sites other than the 1st homepage. I have no problem viewing any other secure sites other than Symantec. I have searched for Hosts as I saw this on a similar problem page but cannot locate it using the search function. I can update manually but am worried that this may be a more serious problem.

Have you tried to do a live update in safemode with networking? Is there an option in the add/remove programs to repair Internet Security? If not, have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the program?

I have tried running live update in safe mode with internet access but no luck. I have also tried uninstalling live update.....no luck. I have tried unsinstalling live update and Internet security 2006..........no luck, so, here I am.
If you only used Add/Remove programs to uninstall Norton then you probably did not remove it all.
Go to the web site below, choose your version of Norton and follow the instructions

Thanks for the help folks. I tried intelligent updater but that didn't work and the link for the clean uninstall will not load on my p.c because its a Symantec site which along with all other Symantec pages appears to be blocked somehow.

Many thanks for all your help. I kind of knew that I had some kind of spyware etc but couldn't find it or delete it. Norton didn't detect it and neither did another on line check.
HOWEVER! House call dd the trick. I now have live update back and an updated Norton.

Thanks again.

Clive.
