What is the exact error message?
Is this SBS 2003 R2, or more specific are you running WSUS?

Not much to go on. Look in the event log and post the error, its event ID, source and any other useful information please.

From what I have found, it looks like it could be an issue with the POP connector - can you confirm you are using a pop connector - if so see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885685

Has Powershell sent you back into the Stone Age?

If managing Active Directory using Windows Powershell® is making you feel like you stepped back in time, you are not alone.  For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why.

It is a POP3 Connector message.

Make sure your Exchange 2003 install is SP2. Make sure you have fixed the UCEArchive setting fixed as per the Exchange SP2 Release Notes: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/b/5/fb5c54af-fe5c-48e9-be97-f9e8207325ab/Ex_2003_SP2_RelNotes.htm

Also, download Ping Plotter: http://www.pingplotter.com/

Set this utility to run for a week every second or so against the POP3 server you are connecting to. I think you will find that the errors in POP3 will coincide with momentary communication breakages with the POP3 server on the other end.

Those errors tend to be because of hiccups in the communication between SBS and the POP3 server on the other end.

Its a Sbs 2003 R2, the error messages l get are  connected to  3 user mail boxes. There are:
The downloading process for mailbox <pop.joy [webserver name]> was ended with one or more errors.  An error occurred during a POP3 transaction to server <webserver name>[pop.joy]>. The error is 1232 (The network location cannot be reached. For information about network troubleshooting, see Windows Help. ). Event ID 1036.All the updates for exchange are installed

How many of those errors are you seeing in a 24 hour period?

It is not uncommon to see anywhere from 20 to 50 of them a day depending on how often the POP3 Connector checks for new email.

Under Advanced Management, right click on the POP3 Connector manager and click properties. Are there any emails marked as "Failed"? If there are, navigate to the POP3 Connector's Failed directory and see what is there. You may have a misconfigured email setup.

Are the users receiving their email?

I have found out what the problem is.I had my pop connector setup wrong. I had it set to connect to mail boxes via pop mail boxes, instead of mail is delived directly to my server, since l have made the changes there are no.more errors
