Hi there,

What's the reason for sudden ranking lost in Google yesterday at number 6 position and today at no. 80 position in Google for certain keywords that have stable position for a long time.

How to get the original position back.? and what's the reason of this sudden jump?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply.

Two weeks before I did some changes but there was no affect on my site.

But for the last 1 day certain hot keywords have lost their stable ranking without not obvious reason.

Any help on this issue will be highly appreciated.

What were the changes that you made ?

Hi there,

I changed the position of the text because I removed some images from the pages.  But I didn't notice any significant lost in traffic and ranking after that changes.  But now suddenly some hot keywords moved to 60-80th positions from 6-8 positions in Google.

This sudden change in position is very strange for me.  Because it's without any apparent reason.

I was holding stable position in Google for a long time.

Has anyone noticed this kind of sudden jump and then regaining the original position?

Any help will be appreciated.

It's not that strange, really.  It happens fairly commonly due to algorithm updates as noted above.

Also, changes on your site can have changes on your ranking that aren't necessarily immediate.  It depends on when your site is crawled and when the index is updated.  If your content is largely the same and you didn't change any of the major on-page elements like your page title or disrupt your navigation structure (ie. links that allow the spiders to move from page to page), then that large a drop in rankings is likely not attributable to the changes.

"removed some images from the pages".
Which images and from which part of the page. Also did they have ALT text ?? (This could be a reason)
Also the rank lost could be temporary (It happens sometimes).
My site did not make such a big jump as yours but drop in rankings have been seen due to google update.
Also did you just loose rank or there were changes in site PageRank.

We also discussed something similar here: http:Q_22746570.html

I think the general consensus was to update your pages often, but most search positioning factors are out of your control.

Hi there,

There is no change in the page rank.  Page rank is same as before.  But the position of some keywords have been moved from 6-8 to 60-80.  I hope that this sudden and big jump is temporary.

Please share thoughts if anyone has faced the same problem before.

"Which images and from which part of the page. Also did they have ALT text ??"

Image alt text isn't a significant enough factor to have caused such a significant ranking change.

Hi there,

I just changed the position of the text on the home page i.e. inserted some tables to change the appearance of the page and text on it.  That was actually not a big change and the keywords were working fine two weeks after the change.

But in the past few days I faced this problem i.e. keywords position changed from 6-60.

Any help on this issue will be highly appreciated.

Harsh.  Can you do that...arbitrarily remove someone's post just because you don't agree with it?  There's nothing in the EE conduct code that says inaccurate posts will be removed, is there?

I totally agree with humeniuk. I've read the mentioned comment and I'm sure that all the links are full of outdated and misleading information. As a zone adviser it is his responsibility to keep the threads clean. He just done his job.

I didn't see Mystique's post, so I'm wondering what was in it, and what lessons we could have learned from it?  If her links could be truly damaging (viruses, trojans, etc), then I don't disagree with removal, but wouldn't it have been better to leave the post and tell the questioner *why* he shouldn't use those techniques?
hello,
plz give me more detail what changes you made.. in last month.. so i can give you ans.

Thanks

Thank you all for contributing to my post.

Just to share with SEO experts that last night I saw my site's position with the same keywords (in question) and I noticed that there were about 50 % improvement i.e. site came from 80th position to 40th position with the same keyword but without any major work from my end.

But now today it's again at the 90th position.

I want to know the cause of this reshuffling of site's position in Google as I am managing different websites and I never noticed this big jump before.  With this jump I am losing 30-40 visitors per day only from the home page.

Please note that this change in position is only in Google and site's position with the same keywords is still stable in Yahoo and MSN.

I will be really thankful for any help in this matter.

Finding a good SEO company or professional is challenging.  There are many people making empty promises and not delivering results.  Good SEO's spend most of their time cleaning up the kinds of messes these people make.
