Created New User Account in Win SBS 2003 to replace a corrupt one and I'm having problems.
I was suddenly unable to access my Inbox when using Outlook Web Access. Without much else to do, I created a new user account with a new name, renamed the corrupt account, and then renamed the new account to the name of the old, corrupt account. This resolved the OWA problem, but now I have a new problem. Specifically, I created the new account with a different user name and e-mail address so it would not conflict with the old corrupt user account. Then I renamed the old corrupt account, and changed the name of the new account to the old one. For some bizzare reason, each time I change the account name to the name of the old, corrupt user account, it takes the name, only to revert back to the old name after a minute or so. Moreover, when other users on my server try to invite me to a meeting, they cannot find me in the directory and are unable to invite me to their meetings. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Having said that, you should still be able to achieve the results you want by editing this account, but the question is - is it worth it, or is it a better solution to create an account right the way you want it?
An example of some of the things that don't change - by default, the name that shows in the OU list will stay the same . Also, any folders that get created automatically as part of folder redirection will also stay with the name you used originally, such as "Temp User" or whatever...

By the way, even though I said "certain bits don't ever change", that's not totally true - I mean that it's often quite complicated or onerous to make those changes and often not worth it (in my mind)

I'll play around with it a bit more and then try what you suggest if all else fails and report back.
If you untick the "automatically update recipients" in your recipient policy does this still happen? Oh and are you talking about your email aliases?
