mapped drives via VPN
map a drive via VPN connection. I need to map a drive letter to a server that I connect to vai VPN. The remote machine is not part of the domain but I need the same drive letters as if I were locally connected to the network.

Long time to reply...
I did change the subnet at my remote location to 192.168.10
The main office is on 192.168.1
now the VPN attempt won't authenticate

Were you able to connect before?
What error number are you getting when the connection fails, such as 691, 800, etc.
What subnet mask are you using with the new IP's? If 255.255.0.0 you will still have the same problem. If 255.255.255.0 you should be fine.....at least with that issue.

The subnet mask SHOULD be 255.255.255.0. I don't recall the error message. I don't get to that location on a regular basis and I'd need a competent body on the other end to do GoToMeeting or something like it. I tried using the same VPN connection that I had previously. Should I create a new connection using the changed subnet?
The error mess I was referring to would be from the connecting client end. You shouldn't need to create a new connection as the VPN client addressing is re-created each time you connect.

I just have to physically go to that location and collect all the facts. Could it be security settings on my server here?

I have not tried the NET USE solution. First I have to get it back to where it will connect. Then I'll try the command line...
OK, let us know how you make out. Good luck with it.

This issue got stale. The user requesting the VPN mapped drives has not needed it since. I will divide the points and close this issue.
Thanks RussellStav.
