Unable to apply Serevice Pack 2
Two if my clients (both using SBS 2003 are unable to apply the Mictosoft update for Service Pack 2.
One of the servers simply quits saying it was unable to install, but the other is unable to verify the *.inf file
Any Ideas?

Lots of information there, but none of it seemed to apply.
When trying one of the servers again, the update got relatively far in "Backingup Files" before it broke.

It's absolutely there.

FYI, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;822798 specifically states that it solves a problem when you get the error:
"When you try to install an update or to install a service pack, you may receive an error message that is similar to one of the following:
Name of Update Package
Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on this computer. "

My last comment was premature.
I'm still working throgh the steps on http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;822798.
Since these are production servers, I can only interrupt (shut down) them during short periods at night.
I hope to report back tomorrow morning that youy solved my problem.
Thanks for your help!

So far, no real progress.
After completing step one of document 82278, one server is in an endless loop of installing SP2 (that breaks trying to install catalog files.
I haven't been able to get to the second server yet.

The second server still exhibits the original problem/
I'll try step two tonightn both servers. This could take a while!

I can understand ytour position.
As of today, I have another (third) SBS server with similar, but not identical problems with SP2. Hopefully, this is the last!
I'll continute one step at a time, but I respect Microsoft much less every time something like this happens - and my clients have to pay for it (or iI have to eat the time because they don't feel they should pay for something that is caused by Microsoft).

I just spent (too many) hours working on the server that was "unable to verify the *.inf file".
I have completed steps one through five of document 82278, and the situation seems to be worse.
Nowhen trying to install the update on this server, I get an IMMEDIATE error message saying that the update has not been installed.
Until I can get a better handle on this, Automatic Updates has been turned off on the three servers.
According to what I just read http://sbsurl.com/sp2, Exchange server SP2 should have been installed before w2k3 SP3, It is NOT installed on any of the three problem servers.
