We run a MS Server 2003 environment with PC's and have a Media Studies lab with 16 Apple eMac's running Tiger 10.4 client

We have integrated Active Directory logging in for students and as we are behind a authentication proxy the Updates portion of OS X won't work automatically and has to be forced every time.

On the OS X Server we have set it up with Squidman to bypass proxy authentication and download the updates however are stuck to how we get the Mac Clients to find the server as an update source and how to correctly set the OS X Server up with LDAP as it is also bound into Active Directory.

So far most documentation from Apple simply states that it will just work - it doesn't.

We have added the computers to groups under OS X Server Workgroup manager also
