Cannot display PDF properly due to lack of resource

I have a PDF file that is important to view in its entirety and as of yet we have only one version of it and cannot get in contact with the author.  When the pdf opens it give the message
"could not find a font in the resources dictionary - using helvetica instead"
Some pages render fine while others are clearly not correct (there are a lot of formulas in the document).  When I view the document properties, the fonts tab displays 'BCSanSerif and Times' fonts and at the bottom of the window it mentions 'Gathering Information ... (33%)' and gets stuck at that number.

I am trying to figure out the best way to view this file in its correct format.  I cannot find this BC Sans Serif font and believe the Times is displaying correctly.  The last thing I would like to mention is that there are a lot of squares in the file that I believe should be displaying mathematical characters such as theta, integrals, partial derivative, etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.
