Strategies to increase upload speed...
I need to upload 80 GB of files to an online backup server (by FTP), and my upload speed (stipulated by my ISP) is very, very low! I have an ADSL solution, and my download speed is good (330 Kbytes/s Attention! 330 Kbytes/s = 330x8 Kbits/s = 2640 Kbits/s) but my upload speed is miserable (27 KBytes/s). Thus, I need to collect as many strategies to increase upload speed as possible.
Here are 3 strategies I found by my own:
1)Before uploading, compress files using an archive format/extension/algorithm with very high compression ratio/efficacy. I found 3 UHA (WinUHA, UHA Command-Line); 7z (7-Zip) and RAR (WinRAR).
2)Use Zapu [http://www.zapu.com/] - «an unique application that increases upload speeds by up to 900%» (they say)...
3)Use VFTPX - Ultra High Speed FTP Client [http://www.softslist.com/download-4-9-24209.html]
I would like you to comment about this strategies and to tell other (new) strategies to increase upload speed.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.

Hi,
I would say that you should compress it, fist of all and once done that you could then take the file on an external harddrive and take it to a faster network and upload it from there (such as schools and colleges and offices)
Another option is to split the files if possible using the compression tools. Then you can upload one bit from you computer, and the other from other places such as your friends internet access and library. This is the fastest way then.

Thanks and regards ;)
Rethink: (when you use 6 hours or more to backup these files daily)
If it is offsite backup, you can use hot swap SATA Hard Disk or usb external HDD, and you can
periodically store these HDD's to backup site --- daily/weekly/monthly/.... because of 3Gb/s.
Only you concern is the delivery issue. My experience is fast and I gain more time to focus on
another important stuffs.
