i have a client that i am developing a simple 5 page website for, hosted on a 2003 server with FP extensions.
They want a page that contains links. i can do this manually but would rather have it as something that they can maintain themselves, for add/Remove/Change.
My thought was either
1. have an excel spreadsheet with 3 fields Company, Website (eg. http://www.google.com
), and Description. This would then have a second worksheet which makes a hyperlink from fields 1+2 and lists the Description from field 3. And have this worksheet info displayed on the links page.
2. Have a secured page (eg. wwww.domain.com/admin ) that they can log into and then change the info as required. I have no problem with the secured folder side, but have no idea on how to do the rest.
So i am looking for some guidance and preferably a link to some how to. the problems i see are with the excel meathod, from my knowledge this would require the end browser to have excel installed to view it. No Good, but maybe i am wrong.
with the admin meathod, do i need to link an access (or any other) database?
