problem for scanning: Xerox PE16 USB connected to a print server

I have connected a Xerox PE16 (printer/scanner/fax) wich have a USB port  to a print server (DLINK DP-301U). I can print but I can't scan any document. I have an message error: port busy.
Is there a way to use the scanner via the network ?
