Backup-to-Disk File Size Limit

We are using Backup Exec 10 (fully patched) and need to now do a back-up-to disk project.  I have a 130 gb hd that just holds some pictures - 106 gb free.  I created a b2d folder with 100gb limit and a media set with 50gb limit.  overwrite protection 4 hours, overwrite media, infinite-append.  I need to backup 46gb.  I have tried two different HDs on two different servers and a 60gb eternal drive (50 gb folder).  No matter what I try, I can back up only appx 6gb of data.  Reports says overwrite media, unable to append, media full.  I don't understand why this is happening.  Can anyone shed some light on this?

I would suspect you're getting 1.5:1 compression and that you are backing up to a FAT32 partition.  FAT32 has a file size limit of 4 GB.  6 GB of data backed up compressed at 1.5:1 = 4 GB.

Convert the drive to NTFS - NTFS has no realistic file size limit.

Thank you so much for the offer to help.  Here's what I have set up.
Device ( on other server 130gb/106gb free, only data on device, no programs, single drive, not mirrored) - B2D configuration for HD - maximum size 50gb, max # of bu sets 2, disk space reserve 100 gb, autodetect, concurrent 1
Media Set  (set up using wizard) - overwrite protection period 8 hrs, append 4 hrs (current set up, i did try overwrite 0 append infinite - doesn't make a differece)
Job Properties - overwrite media.

I've been trying different combinations of settings, but having hit the lucky one yet.  I can bu to either that internal HD or an external 60gb HD.

My goal is to B2D the file on a daily basis at night overwriting the previous file, then duplicate B2T during the day switching between two tapes so I actually have two days bu.
As you suggested, I took out both max size and disk space reserve limtes and everything is working as planned.  Thank you!
