A VERY SIMPLE membership database or a program that can make one
Does anyone out there know of a very simple program that will make a database for members of a small fitness club? I only need their name, address, date of birth, type of membership, cost and date of expiry in the database. I do not have a lot of time to learn Filemaker or ACCESS. I wonder if there is a program out there already that has this template in it?
I was using Datahound but it seems to have "vanished" when I sent a question to customer service.

What you are asking for is very simple as far as you have described. When it gets complicated is when you want to do something with the data you have collected. for example, do you want the software to generate a report of those people whose membership is about to expire. Do you want to keep track of family members that are related to the current record. Do you have different levels of membership? do you need to keep track of payments. do you need an email address, additional phone numbers, emergency contact information, etc. the list goes on and on. Filemaker does come with 30 templates pre-configured right out of the box. In addition there are productivity kits downloadable from Filemaker at http://www.filemaker.com/solutions/index.html that may also meet your needs. If you get Filemaker (or ACT, Access, or any other database tool) you have the ability to modify the file as your needs change but it does require some learning to take advantage of that ability. Otherwise, it may behoove you to look into a program that is written specifically for your industry in which case you may be able to find something here: http://solutions.filemaker.com/solutions/index.jsp
