Only one computer in a domain can be running Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server....
Check this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Server_2003
I once installed Windows Server 2000 in a SBS 2003 envirment and the problem was that Windows 2000 Server could no "see" SBS2003 but SBS2003 could "see" Windows 2000 Server !
I would suggest to you that you should be "playing" with same OS versions.

Just to clarify ... been a long day ... the first native was 2003!

I have an SBS 2003 server and want to add an additional Domain Controller.  I installed a base server with WIndows 2003 R2.  when I went to DCPromo the box I got an error saying the Schemas are different (old schema W2K3, new schema W2K3R2).  Can I or Should I use the ADPrep and Domain Prep to upgrade the schema for W2K3R2?  Will the older SBS server have a problem using the updated schema?
SBS 2003 non-R2 and Windows Server 2003 R2 can certainly operate together, but you will have to update the schema on the SBS first. This is a requirement.
