Securing laptops Wireless access point

I'm trying to find the best way to secure my users laptops when they connect to shared access point.  Or can I turn off and lock the ability to connect to shared access points and only connect to secured access points.  I'm looking for something other then using Windows Firewall.

In the XP Wireless Advanced Settings, there is a setting to select "Only connect to preferred wireless networks".

That will prevent it from jumping on you, unless you have specifically set a profile for it..

In the Intel Proset app, for intel cards, there is an option under Tools>Application Settings, that can help accomplish what you want as well. But if you dont haev an intel card, were out of luck...

In the wireless router you can enable the wap securiy ,The wap security  will generate the the security key for the clients . While clients  wants to conect to the acess point will ask for the security key.
Only who knows the WAP KEY they can connect to the network
I hope this will help you to solve your problem
