I have a buffalo Terra station hooked up through the network.  I installed backup exec 11d.  The software will not see the network drive at all.  Can someone please tell me how to set this up.

Try to manually add a "User defined selection" for the share published by the terastation. (http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/254193.htm).
You will probably have an error in every job - something like "The media server was unable to connect to the remote agent on machine", but at least you should be able to get backups.

would it be better to Just get 2 USB 500gb external drives put them on to the server and then it will see local drives and I can take a drive home everyday. I am still doing tape back ups also.

OK I have a share set up. I cam backup using backup exec.  Now how do I setp up the Continous protection server destination folder. It will only see the 3 local drives as destinations. Nothin else is available.

You can't set up the destination folder to a share. It only allows fixed drives as a destination.
To answer your question about USB drives - it allows USB drives as a destination, but I wouldn't go disconnect them and take them home. It would make the destination unavailable.
