Windows XP machines can not access the Linux Ubuntu machine.

Using smb:// (IP address) Ubuntu can see and access  the  XP machines and  the XP machines can see and access each other but XP machines cannot access the Ubuntu machine.

Thinking it might  be a password problem I tried to change or configure the samba password with this command:

sudo smbpasswd -a (Ubuntu password)

I got to this:

Retype new SMB password:
>> this "Failed to modify password entry for user  xx":

I will appreciate advice.
