How do I adjust the text size (to be as large as possible) to the textfield size?

I need to know if there is some way to determine how large a text can possibly be in a textfield with fixed size.

An example of what I want to do:

Lets say I have a textfield with the size. 200 x 75 pixels.

I would like the text that is put into the textfield to automatically be as large as possible without forcing the textfield to expand. Like, if I for instance would put a single lower case letter 'a' using Arial into the textfield, that letter should automatically get the size 44, which is as large it can get having the dimensions above.

Hope I'm beeing clear enough. I don't care how "pretty" the solution is, I just need to get it working one way or another.

Thank you for your suggestions!

I haven't heard of a way to do this, but maybe you can work backwards?  Would it work for you if you created a single line text box, and then increased the font size until the box height expanded to the size you're looking for?  Then you set the width and you're done.

I'm assuming you're not using a TextArea or TextField component, but a drag-out text box?

Hi, i'm trying to understand what exactly you're trying to do.
I'd agree there's no quick method to implement that, you'd have to write your own method, but it depends on a number of things.
1. is the text being added via user input - or dynamically at runtime?
2. are you concerned about the "width" and not the height of the textfield expanding - is that right?

if you can answer these questions and explain a use case, might be able to come up with a solution for you.
