Connecting computer to network causes intermittent network outages
I have a home-built pc (using the shuttle xpc). Whenever i connect it to my network, all my other PC's (winxp) lose their connections about every 2 minutes. The "local area connection" says it's disconnected but then it reconnects immediately. This is the troubleshooting i've done so far:
-Change network cables
-Change to a USB to Ethernet adapter
-Boot from a Linux Live CD
No matter what i do, whenever this PC is connected to the network it causes connection problems. The only thing i can think of is that it's a problem with the motherboard. Does anyone have any other thoughts?

The NIC is built into the motherboard?

Unless I'm crazy, I have eliminated Windows and the onboard nice as the source by trying the following:
I have tried booting using a Linux Live CD, so this eliminates any software (Windows) problems.
I also installed a USB to ethernet adapter, bypassing the onboard NIC.

Zman, did you disable the onboard NIC in the BIOS and uninstall it from the OS? If you haven't, then the onboard NIC can still cause the issue.
