Are you using a docking station?
Have you set nVidia control panel to Dualview ?
Do you have it set for dual monitor/extended desktop mode?

Yes i am using a docking station that has on VGA and one DVI port.
Yes i have the nVidia set to dual view ( and this works) i would like 3 monitors.
yes the dual monitor/extended desktop setup and this works as well.  I would like to see the laptop monitor plus on VGA monitor and one DVI monitor for a total of three?

thanks
Do you have the primary display set at the native resolution of the laptop screen.
yes
There seems to be issues with this model and losing settings, not exactly your problem but they do speak to how the laptops are setup for multi monitor.

Perhaps a managing software like Ultramon could help.

sparkmaker - I think you are missing the point of his question, he's trying to have 3 separate displays.

I think you would need an additional video card, like some of the solutions I posted earlier.
thanks for the link i will check it out- i would like to confirm first though that this cannot be done with the current hardware?
I didn't miss the point, others have mentioned having this setup on the Dell forums, but it wasn't clear if it was working with 3.
Have you tried pressing Fn + F5, i believe, there should be an function key on your laptop that will say LCD | CRT or just have a pic of 2 monitors on it.  I can't remember on that model if it is Fn + F2, Fn + F5, or Fn + F6.  That will toggle your laptop to go to dual screen mode, it has 3 functions.  Laptop only, Laptop and External, and External Only.
The FN hotkey function would allow cloning of the desktop rather than have an independent or extended screen which is what I believe the author is attempting to do.

The Fn will allow you to have 2 independent desktops, you just need to check the extend desktop on to this monitor, in your display properties settings.
The Matrox dual/tripple head is cool, but keep in mind, windows treats the 2 or 3 extra monitors as one wide monitor. It may or may not do what you want it to do. Your only other option is getting a pcmcia video card.
I'm using the DualHead2Go with my D620 to achieve a triple display setup.  What I'd really like to know though, is if I were to buy a D/Dock and slap a video card in it capable of driving 2 displays, will this allow me to use all 3 displays, or just the 2 external displays.  The DualHead2Go I'm currently using would be just about perfect except for the fact that the worthless Intel 945GM graphics chipset in the D620 won't do 2560x1024 on the 2 external monitors - it will only do 2048x768.
I don't know if a D/Dock video card supercedes the onboard video or not ==> I'd guess that it does NOT ... in which case you should be able to do what you've suggested -- driving both the internal display and two external monitors with the dual-display card.   In fact, if the card is on Matrox's DualHead2Go supported video card list, you could drive two monitors through one of the ports ==> for a total of 4 displays :-)
What would be the best video card to get for the D/Dock to try this?  I'm assuming the D/Docks don't support PCI-E, so I guess I would need one of the newest dual-monitor-capable PCI cards.
The D-Dock for Latitudes has a half-height standard PCI slot, so you'll need a half-height card with dual-monitor support.   This card fits the bill ... and will do 1280 x 1024 (as you indicated you needed) on each of the monitors:  http://www.compuvest.com/Description.jsp;jsessionid=aPNz5RvzVrzbXr9TPs?iid=465185
Cool, thanks!  Is there anything better, with more than 32MB of memory though?
... not necessarily "better" ==> but more memory.  Read the comments on Newegg's site, however, and you may decide the Matrox is a better card.   But the Diamond will work as long as you connect it via the analog connection (at least according to the comments from other users).
So, if I went with the BizView BV200 card, and am using 2 ViewSonic VA703b monitors (VGA only), what kind of adapters would I need?  Just 2 DVI (male) to VGA (female)?
The card comes with one DVI->VGA adapter, so you'd need one more to use 2 VGA monitors.
But is it DVI (male) to VGA (female), or DVI (femaile) to VGA (male)?
Ok, so DVI (male) to VGA (female).  Thanks.  I will report back at the end of the week, or beginning of next, to let you all know whether or not you can indeed run all 3 displays (the D620 + 2 external) using a D/Dock w/video card.  I'm betting no, but hopefully I'll be surprised.
