Default Location to Save PDF Created through Explorer Context Menu ("Convert to Acrobat PDF")

Is there a setting which determines the DEFAULT location where a new pdf is to be saved when you right-click on a file in Explorer and choose "Convert to Acrobat PDF." I have Acrobat Pro 7. Whenever I do this, by default it saves the file to my MY DOCUMENTS folder, but I'd like the default behavior to be to save the new pdf to THE SAME FOLDER as the source file.

Hi

Sorry the answer is No you cannot, not sure why Adobe have not addressed this, don't think it is different in 8 either.

Workaround is to link to your desired output folder and place a shortcut in the MYDocs folder. That way you can reroute the save without much browsing.

I appreciate your answer. If I only wanted to save to one folder, the shortcut would be a clever workaround. However, my business (law practice) is "project centric" so each document created needs to be saved to its appropriate folder. Every project has its own -- and there are thousands of them. I really need to supply the folder at runtime, BUT, when it comes to the simple task of right-clicking on a file to make it be a PDF, the file is already where I need the resultant PDF to be. No, the shortcut won't help me, but it's a clever idea.

I'm gonna ask this in the acrobat forum at adobe.com and when it comes back with the same answer, I'll award points here.
I appreciate your business needs, how would you envisage this to work on rightclick? i suppose you want to avoid the open in Acrobat save as and delete from source location..?

Should the user be prompted with a destination so he can select the location when doing convert to PDF from right click shell menu?

Adobe uses Distiller for this so you can do this by opening Acrobat Distiller |File|Preferences| and select 'Ask for PDF file destination' in the Output option.

My first choice would be that the default path to save a PDF which is created by right-clicking on the source file is to just save the resulting PDF to the location as the source file.

It would also be useful to be prompted for the location to save to, with the default proposed to be the same folder as the source.
