Backup Exec 11d Exchange Mailbox Store
Running Backup Exec 11d and backing up Exchange Mailbox Stores nightly; however when attempting a restore, there aren't backups for every night. What is the cause of this? It's set for a full backup each night.

After reviewing the Media Management options for Exchange I have noticed there was no value set for backup method. Also for the daily backups, only two of the five days had a full method selected and the others were blank.
I'm assuming since these values were not set it is the reason why backups have not been consistent for the Mailbox Store..??

you can also check in the logs to see how much data was backed up on each job. all daily backups should be around the same amount of data. this would be a good indication that something is not getting backed up
when you say that full backup are not there.....if you mean that it does not show the backup sets then unfortunately the media or b2d file has been overwritten

Reviewing backup job sizes, they are all about the same size. Backup status are usually "Successful" or "Completed with Exceptions" and logs are set to show everything backed up, but the completed with exceptions is usually due to a skipped file. In the rare instance there are "Failed" jobs its not b/c of the Mailbox Store.
I'd like to think this is the reason for the here and there backups ->
If in the "Job Properties" the "Backup Method" field was empty, instead of having "Full ....", it could possibly have caused the problem.
I have changed the value to Full on both the Exchange options and on the nightly backups, so will see what tomorrow brings.

Are you performing a Legacy backup? or GRT based backup
upgrade to 11.0.7170 and apply all the Hot Fixes
hotfixes 2,11,14 specially address the issue that you are facing
run live updates and apply all of them and then reinstall the remote agent on the exchange server.
For the time being if you want to restore important info then perform a restore of the IS to the RECOVERY STORAGE GROUP and then use EXMERGE to get the data you need.
