URGENT!! Can I reactivate my old 'working' phone?

My phone has been failing me and I have 60-days before I can renew my contract and get a 'special' deal on an overpriced phone, so I purchased one from e-bay to get me through the next couple months. Well the one I purchased seemed fine before I activated it and actually used it.  The mic is hosed and people cant hear me on the other end.
This is the phone I use for my small business, so I really need the phone.  I live in a small town and the cell phone store who activated the new phone is only open during limited hours. I need a phone by morning.
I watched the lady in the store activate my phone while standing at the counter without doing anything on her computer, she only asked for my cell#, so I am assuming that activating a phone is done solely with the phone if you know the network information and cell# on the account.  It took all of 30 seconds(at most) to make a call with the newly activated phone.  She did not touch my old phone.
Since I have my old phone and the new, is there a way that I can reactivate my old phone myself so I can have a phone by morning?

US Cellular
kyocera kx414 - old (use to work)
motorolla V810 - new (bad mic)

Thanks for your quick response Punky...but I was hoping to do it on my own without the service provider. Is that possible?
Sorry, you must call your service provider or if you have an unlock phone with sim card.

Thanks Punky,
I was able to reactivate my old phone over the phone with my service providers help.  I am good to go
