Locking Desktop Icons with SBS03 and Roaming Profiles
I have a server running Small Business Server 2003 with roaming profiles and was trying to find a solution for locking the desktop icons as the user placed them. I found an article that suggested if I added the following registry key that they would be locked and return correctly as is after restart/log off/shut down:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software \Microsoft \Windows\C urrent Version\Policies\Explorer
New DWORD, NoSaveSettings, value = 1
This remained true until I restarted my SBS server this morning, and all of mine and my boss' icons got thrown all over the screen upon logging back in. Can someone tell me if there is a way to truly lock them so they remain in place every time - or is this only accomplished with a 3rd party software? Users are running XP Pro SP2.
