We now have IBM servers with no PS2 ports and our DLINK KVM switches no longer function, what can replace them?
I have 16 servers, 14 have ps2 keyboard and mouse ports and two now have only usb ports for keyboards and mice. My current dlink dkvm-8e KVM units keep freezing now that I have connected to the new servers via a usb to ps2 keyboard/mouse adapter. Dlink says they don't support usb-ps2 key/mouse adapters. I need to find a KVM switch that is reasonably priced that can handle both usb and ps2 input devices. This is frustrating as I have checked APC, Belkins and some others which have usb ports on them but none that can duplicate mouse and keyboard compatibilityvia the usb

Hi folks:
I know this is somewhat after the fact (February 2008) - I had the same problem with a DKVM-8e when I had to replace a motherboard with an ASUS PK5-E with no PS2 mouseport. However, I did find that an adapter - usb to ps2 for mouse & keyboard did work for me - it is a generic version made in china, but lists the following info:
"Compliant with USB HID spec; USB bus powered; Fully compliant with PS/2 keyboard/mouse;supports usb and PS2 plug and play; also supports two ps2 keyboards or two ps2 mouse (2p model) supports standard windows multimedia keys; supports windows 98/se/me/2000/xp and Mac OS9.0/osx/linux"
The adapter seems to have a little "box" between the usb plug and the two ps2 adapters. When I plugged it into the asus board usb port the USB device was found right away by Windows, before I attached the KVM mouse cable - I think that was the significant part as other adpaters I tried indicated that an "unknown" USB device was found. I also had to use the "scroll+scroll+m" command to reset the mouse on the DKVM-8e - but now is working perfectly.
Hope this info helps someone ...
