PPTX to PPT converter

I have two files in *.pptx format which I cannot open in my Office 2003 (powerpoint) or Open Office 2.2 programs.

I need to convert these urgently as they are revision slides.  I've tried various web searches but cannot find what I need.  Does anyone know how I can do this very quickly and for free?

Might be a problem as I dont have admin status on the PC.  Is there not a web conversion tool or one of those small programs you can run without a full install?

Also how can a PPTX file be viewed in the Open office environment?

I don't have experience with Open Office, but I believe that converter I suggested can be installed as part Windows update process. I'm not aware of any other web or no-install-required similar utilities.

I went the first solution, was easier to email the file to my personal PC and install the update.  I have yet to check out the openoffice solution, maybe another time, but thanks anyway.
