RDS Login Error in Dreamweaver using Coldfusion 8
In my dreamweaver site, I am trying to access my applications. When I click on the link to specify the RDS Login information, I get the following errors.
The server name or address could not be resolved.
Possible Reasons:
1. The URL specified for this sites testing server may be incorrect: http://site
2. The testing server may be incorrectly configured (for example, ColdFusion may not be running).
The only changes that I made were upgrading from CF7 - CF8.
Any thoughts? BTW - I edit files over the network on the web server.

Are you using localhost:8500? When i installed another version i had to use localhost:8501.

I tried the localhost. Did not work. Coldfusion is installed on the web server where the files reside.
does it work if you connect via IP instead of the servers name/Domain name?
ASKER
No. Tried that one already.
Did you uninstall cf7 after you installed cf8, and if so did it remove the cfide directory, or anything in that directory?
ASKER
The cfide directory is still there. Should i delete it?
no, don't delete it, I just wanted to make sure the uninstaller didin't remove the files neccessary for RDS to work.

Any other thoughts?

The reinstall worked. I did lose all of my settings, but luckily I only had a couple databases.
I have the same error but I have a fresh cf8 no upgrade and I told it NOT to use RDS but Dreamweaver is still asking for it. When I look in the CF8 Admin it shows RDS as enabled with no password. It is recommended for a production server not to use it so why is Dreamweaver cs3 asking for it when I try to set up an ftp connection for cf pages?
