Comdev?

Hey all - has anyone here ever used Comdev OneAdmin?  It seems similar to Joomla/DotNetNuke/Drupal.  The previous developer installed it with just one module running, and I was thinking of adding on.  But before I did that big buy in I wanted some opinions.  Would you recommend?  If you would not recommend, what would you recommend?

Hi kellybelly,

I've not used ComDev, but I did some research into it and I can't see a good reason to use it instead of Joomla.  Both packages will do the same thing but ComDev is purely commercial and you will pay for every module.  Joomla is free and has a huge user community supporting it.

The flip side of paying for something is you can demand support for it.  With Joomla, although support is out there, it can be slightly more difficult to find.  Although if you have PHP experience already, you won't run into too much trouble with anything Joomla will throw at you.

I'm less enamored of DotNetNuke or Drupal, but I would still try to use one of them over a paid solution unless I had a lot of money to burn.

jason1178 - thanks for the well thought out answer.  I have only used Joomla in one project, and that one was a mess from the beginning.  I found Joomla to be more than clumsy in the user interface department.  The user interface controlling menu set up was horrible.  Do you think it was the module they chose for the menus that made it so confusing?  I am an experienced programmer in PHP and ASP.
