Adobe InDesign CS2 wont' save files sometimes
Having a strange issue with InDesign is OS X. sometimes Adobe InDesign won't save or can't save after working on documents.
After modifying a document I tried to save it under a different file name on the desktop. Nothing happens. I tried doing a normal save and nothing happens. I quit InDesign (say NO to the "do you want to save" prompt) and a restart InDesign and it's working again. No rhyme or reason.
This has happened a few different times and I can't relate the incidents. This is a brand new G5 with a fresh install of OS X & Adobe CS2

I had the same issue, but the file would not save on a remote server. So I forced quitted In-Design and then restarted - the recovery happened automatically and it recovered the file fully.
When you say during this problem, you file in you finder looks like it not being update and the modified date does not change. But its saving the file in the auto recovery folder. So you can force quick and recover without losing anything.
Not sure why it happens, but it recovers well.
