Exchange 2003 is not sending messages out of the smtp queues to and a few other isp's mostly. We stopped and started the smtp service, mta, and sa, and rebooted the exchange server but still about half of the messages still remain in the smtp queues after 4 to 5 hours.

    do you have a reverse dns record for your exchange server.  i know aol is strict about who they accept mail from.

    Does your ISP provide a smarthost?  I'd recommend using that instead of DNS

    Like QBrad said, some isp do not accept emails from dynamic IPs. Is your MX record IP a dynamic IP? IF so, you do no have a PTR record.

    Use your ISP's smarthost. AOL and many other big providers do not accept mail from pools of IP addresses used for ADSL or dialup services.

    If you need instructions on how to setup a smart host, mine are here:

    You ca restart the services as often as you like, if the DNS is not configured correctly then email will be refused.

    Sembee has a good solution here, but i gave the credit to the 2st responder to the reverse DNS lookup record to be added. The issue is not resolved though after adding
