Wireless connection

I have an ADSL line for connecting to the Internet. I had tried to connect my Notebook (HP) thru wireless router (LinkSys latest model. Within the same room i get instantly an exellent signal and after a while the signal gets degraded. On the rest of the rooms (seperated by brick) i do not get any signal. The router installed is LinkSys latest model.

Since now I have two Notebooks wireless connection it is a must for me.

Please advice!!!

semltd,

please go and download http://www.netstumbler.com/ this is a wireless utility that will detect and monitor wireless networks.  there are many contributuing factors that can affect the performance of a wireless signal.  Firstly once you have NS installed run it up and search for available wireless networks.

Do you live in a house? Flat? Semi? Detached? it could be that you have wireless networks all around you and have some interfearence.

When you say room to room what sort of distance are you talking about from the access point?

I assume that you are using the inbuilt wireless on the notebooks? how new are they? do you know the standard? I would assume that they are at least 802.11b/g.

Below is a good article on wireless and the pros and cons, please take time and read through it.
