LAN settings in Vista

I am using Vista Business i have joined my Local network using the LAN. I have configured it as DHCP, so it picks up the DNS and gets an ip address automatically. However i typed in the Default gateway and i was good to go. I shut down and restarted this time i removed the Default Gateway and left it blank. and i noticed i was still able to access the internet. and i noticed under the LAN status details the default gateway can be seen. How do i get rid of this ip address?

DHCP configures the default gateway as well. If you don't want a gateway, don't use DCHP or configure the DHCP server not to provide one.

It may be the network discovery option - try switching it off in the Network and Sharing Centre.
