Solaris Digest MD5

What is proper syntax for for making a md5chsum of a solaris hard disk in solaris 10?
format reveals the drive as c0t0d0
Example--> digest -a md5 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2 > chksum.md5

Should the path to the drive be /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 or /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2?

Also, when calculating the md5, how long should it take on a 73 GB drive?

Thanks!

digest -a md5 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2 > chksum.md5
/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2 stands for the whole disk. /.../.../...s0 is only the first partition.

Is there a method of calculating a time estimate for calculating the md5 sum for an entire drive? For a few files, it doesn't seem to be that long, but for a large disk, the time is much longer.

Thanks!

Put "time" in front of the digest command.
time digest -a md5 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2 > chksum.md5
It will show you the system, CPU and elipse time.
The elipse time is close to the whole time.
You can try "time" on a few files to see.
