You can turn it off when installing or removing programs but I would turn it back on once you complete your task. If you leave it off you'll be disabling some of Vistas built in security features.<br />

I am trying to install a program into Microsoft Vista-Business Edition. &nbsp;I have a patch for the program, but am finding it difficult installing the orginial program, so I can install the patch afterwards. &nbsp;I am using my normal login. &nbsp;Would logging on as an Administrator help, and if so, how would I do this.<br />

Windows Vista is an operating system created by Microsoft as the successor to Windows XP. It was intended for PCs, workstations and laptops, and shares the same code base as its successor, Windows 7.
