What settings need to be in place while using Exmerge to move mailboxes to a new Exchange server?

I am using exmerge to move mailboxes from one Exchange server to another.  The new Exchange server also has a new Active Directory domain name.  I successfully used exmerge to export the mailboxes to .pst files on the new server, however they all fail while trying to import to the mailboxes I have setup on the new server under the same username.  How do I fix this???

Sounds like the permissions on the new server are not correct.

You also need to ensure that the names of the PST files match the alias. If you are going in to a new domain then there is a chance the alias is different.

For example, if the alias is john.smith then the PST  file needs to be called john.smith.pst for exmerge to do everything itself.

Permissions wise, you need to have Full Mailbox Access. Using an account that is domain admin or an administrator is not enough - that can actually cause more problems due to the way Exchange denies access.
When I am doing a bulk import on exmerge I actually use a special account that has limited memberships of groups and has specific permissions in Exchange.

I have created the specialized account giving it full Exchange rights, and I still get an error:
I have given the account full permision/access to the mailbox
"Error configuring message (mspst ms)(unknown error)(cmapisession::create emspstprofile)" in the exmerge log file.

How long did you wait after making the permissions change?
Permissions can take take a few hours to take effect. As I presume that there are no users on the network, restart the store service.

The error was caused by corruptions on files over 2gb, I did not know about the size limit with exmerge...

That is because exmerge is using the old PST format, which is limited to 2gb.
