Lotus new email notifications

We have a Lotus Notes environment, 6.5, with a Domino Server and a few users cannot get their lotus notes to notify them of a new email.  Under preferences I have selected show a popup and even selected play a sound.  It doesn't do either.

I can't seem to find the .ini file.  We have a custom database EMR system built on top, would that have something to do with it?
DO a search for notes.ini .

Also , you should be able to right click the Notes Icon, and find where the Notes program directory is. The Notes.ini is usually there also.

I hope this helps !
Just FYI there is NO notes.ini on that computer. I AM ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE.  I have searched 3 computers now with no luck.
Is it possible that it is on a shared network drive ?

Could it be a hidden file ?
Did you check the Program directory of Lotus notes ?

Did you check the shortcut to launch Lotus Notes ?   It may be on the command line.

Oh, and BTW, in addition to Madheeswar's comment, you shoudl make sure the Location doc is set up correctly... and even recreate it if it looks OK but still does not function correctly.
Therer are only 3 ini files in the notes directory
notestat.ini
formats.ini
keyview.ini

There is no mapped drive involved...Thoughts?

I will try reinstalling, at this point it looks like my easiest route....I'm sure that is a solution...Will let you know

Thanks
WHere is the notes data directory? Ask one of the users to log in, choose FIle -> Preferences -> User Preferences, and give yo the value of "Local database folder" (right side, half way down in the preferences dialog).

Normally, it is in C:\Program Files\Lotus\Notes\Data or C:\Lotus\Notes\Data or C:\Notes\Data.  If not, you probably have a shared Notes installation, which puts it buried in the user Local Applications folder, which may not appear in regular Windows searches.
Also, if you read therough the link I posted, VIsta can manipulate installations to put programs and data into a different Directory than the one stated in your Install program.

Forced accept.
