Outlook 2003 - Meeting Request Message Field, dropping the 1st line of Data.

We have a user that is pasting an excel spreadsheet into the message field of a meeting request.  When the meeting request is sent it cuts off the top line of the spreadsheet.  We are able to re-create this, it does it every time.  This only happens with the excel spreadsheet, not for messages that are only text.  The workaround is to hit enter before inserting the spreadsheet, but just wondering if anyone can explain why this happens.

Hi, Enerplus.

Does this happen with this spreadsheet alone, or is it every spreadsheet?  Or have you tried pasting in another spreadsheet?  I pasted a spreadsheet into the body of an invitation and didn't see what you described.

I tried several different spreadsheets.  Are you also running Office 2003 on Exchange Server 2003?
Also, it only cut of the top line after it was sent.  Not visible to the sender only the recipeint.

Yes. I'm running Outlook 2003 on Exchange Server 2003.  Yes, the top line was still there.  In my test I sent from one account of mine to another.  I'll test again with another user to make sure it wasn't just me.

Thank you.  Let me know if you find anything different with that test.  If not, I guess I will have to look further into our settings.

Enerplus,

Deepest apologies.  I lost track of this question.  I ran a second test and experienced what you described.  I also tested with Outlook 2007 and it happened there too.  I can't explain why.  I do know that the body area of a meeting request uses Rich-text Format (RTF).  My guess is that when the pasted Excel data is at the the very beginning of the RTF the first line is being seen as something other than data.  However, when a blank line preceeds it, then it is all seen as data.

Thanks for your help, this is the only time we have had someone notice this issue in 10 years, so IF we ever get it again we know what to do.
