Hi.  Try swapping the fibre cables around on one end of the fiber cable run - there may be a TX to TX and RX to RX situation.  Also fix the speed and duplex to the highest speed (fixed, not auto) with full duplex (fixed, not auto) - on all media converters and on the router port.

Best of luck!

Either condition may apply. It also depends on what is on the other end of the fiber. Another converter, directly to a switch?

I changed my duplex back to auto and it is working (both interfaces) but my FDX light still does not come on my external interface fe0/1! any thoughts How do you change the speed?

It could be autonegotiating half-duplex. Not all coverters are full-duplex capable.

Hey dwoodfie74, can you plot out what is connected to what and with what sort of cable (showing where each media converter is) - for the whole run from the 1841 to wherever it ends up at?  This would help a lot.

For Example:-
[1841 Router copper Ethernet 10/100 interface] --Cat5e cable--> [Media converter] --62.5um multimode Fibre--> [Media converter] --Cat5e cable--> HP DL380 G5 Server Intel Pro 1000 MT Network card

Also if you have the make and model of the media converter/s, that would help A LOT.

Cheers.
