Cisco router problem

Hi I have a 1841 cisco router , with  a initial config  my network is a fiber network with media converters when i plug in my fe0/1 external interface my FDX light never comes up and then my LINk and 100 lights go out. My status light on my media convert. also turns orange any ideas?

Hi.  Try swapping the fibre cables around on one end of the fiber cable run - there may be a TX to TX and RX to RX situation.  Also fix the speed and duplex to the highest speed (fixed, not auto) with full duplex (fixed, not auto) - on all media converters and on the router port.

Best of luck!

Either condition may apply. It also depends on what is on the other end of the fiber. Another converter, directly to a switch?

I changed my duplex back to auto and it is working (both interfaces) but my FDX light still does not come on my external interface fe0/1! any thoughts How do you change the speed?
It could be autonegotiating half-duplex. Not all coverters are full-duplex capable.
