Search Function for my Frontpage / password protected website.

I have a web site which I created using Frontpage 2002, and it had a search page for people to find things.... then I needed to add a database function to the site so I moved it to a different server that would support asp pages.  Now the search function doesn't work any more.  I can't use a Google search engine becasue the site is password protected.  If I delete the asp pages from the site will the old search function work again or do I need to switch back the old server?  Is there a search function in MS Expression Web? Any other I deas for a search function?

What was doing your search funciton in the first place?
What is the search finding? eg. files, text on web pages, items in a database etc

Web Pages
What method were you using? Was this just a function of Frontpage or did you write some code to do the searching?
it was very simple, just the Frontpage search function... you know insert web component, web search, current web.
Most Frontpage bots are pretty sensative about how and where they work but ASP is a Microsoft product also so there should be no problem running the two technologies on the one server.

Make sure the new server has Frontpage Extensions intalled and that there is an idential directory structure on both servers. If your pages are referencing a URL and this is different on the new server, you might have to update this as well.

If you have been using a non-Frontpage editor to change your pages (even just changing the filename) then it's very likley that none of the Frontpage features will continue to work. (Front page is senstive that way). You need to edit everything in Frontpage all the time or you won't be able to come back to it again.

There are no standard search functions that you can just use from Expression Web as far as I know. You would have to write your own code to do this or find a third party tool.
So when Microsoft says (Article ID: 828901), "You cannot use the Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 Search Form component on an Active Server Web Page."   They are talking about just that page, not the whole website?

I see that you ranked my answer as "B". Is there any other information you need that I didn't supply?
I did, I thought I put an "A"... that is just what I was looking for....How do I change it?
