Network Problem

We have 7 3com 4200 switches were using solar winds to monitor our network all switch ports set to auto negotiage and pcs- Im thinking of changing these to full duplex.  Im using solarwinds orion to monitor our network but im not seeing any packet discards or anthying of the sort but in different locations randomly our switches are dropping network connection.  In one location we discovered a bad cable, in another we discovered a bad switch but on this bad switch when i perform continous pings and i get a request time out after about 40 replies but just this mourning another 3com switch went down for 15minutes and came back up by itself all our cables are cat6 what could be wrong one by one they keep going down.

When using copper ports it is typically best to have the switch port and the device connecting to the switch sport configured the same.

So if your switch port is auto/auto, then the device should be auto/auto.  If you change your switch to be auto/full or 100/full, or anything specific, then you should also re-configure the device to match.

What is showing the the switches logs?

If your switches are mysteriously restarting, have you eliminated power?  Running on UPS?

not rebooting the switch looses network connection then it gets it back a few minutes later
