Got a few IBM thinkPads laptops with Windows Vista pre-loaded after installing all software needed. I ghost it with (ghost enterprise 8.0) because I need to replicate to 15 more laptops. After loading another laptop with the newly made image and going through the ghosting with no issues the laptop does not boot.

Can someone help!!!!

1. You don't need ghost to image Vista PC's. M$ has provided the WAIK, which allows you to make a preinstallation with all the necessary software, personalizations etc., and then it includes an imaging utility via it's Windows PE booting CD. If I were you I'd check it out, as you then can "install" the images to dissimilar hardware, and you don't have problems with the same Windows Keys and SID's. I'd check that out if I were you:

2. Thinkpads use a non standard disk geometry, so you will need to use some tools to "Repair" the geometry so you can boot after having ghosted the disks. I use bootit-ng which includes an option for repairing the geometry so it works in thinkpads. You can also use that utility as a ghost replacement and a partition magic replacement, and it also works on server OS's.

Just run Startup Repair from the Vista DVD...it will repair the bootloader for you.

You really should use Ghost 11 to image Vista, as it will capture the bootloader correctly, but using the Ghost-Startup Repair method works if you have the time.

Thank you all for the comments they are very informative.
Ive decided on buying a newer version of Ghost (ghost 12 or ghost suite 2.0) but dont know if suite is to much for my needs and if ghost 12 have the imaging option, which one you think it will be most suitable for my needs (Replicating Vista and additional software loaded from 1 laptop to many IBM thinkpad laptops).

Yes, it is a complete suite to quickly distribute your vista to other PC's. Of course it needs some learning.
