REQUEST FOR EXPERIENCE with AppSense and ScriptLogic
We are currently looking for a solution for our printing environment within Citrix. We have about 120 sites, 200+ Citrix servers, 3600 CCU, 4000+ printers. We started using Citrix policies to connect users to their printers, DON"T TRY THIS. We then started looking at AppSense and ScriptLogic to map printers to users based on group membership and OU location.
We like both products, they both do the exact same thing, they both validate the same way. The two main differences are:
AppSense runs its thing before the WIndows Shell is loaded, ScriptLogic runs after.
AppSense is agent based and makes native Windows API calls locally, ScriptLogic runs a script file off of a remote server such as domain controller.
The second issue is not that big of a deal to me, let me know if I should be. The first issue is one that AppSense brought up to me and they claim that using folder redirection with ScriptLogic may cause issues because it is being executed after the shell is loaded.
AppSenses costs about 3-4 times as much as ScriptLogic. I am looking for anybody that has any experience with either of these, hopefully somebody with BOTH of these that can give me a good comparison. I am looking for as much information as possible, please don't give me any marketing information, I have it all from the sales guys. I will award the points to the most informative person and also assign an A for this if somebody can give me some good information.
