Greetings newbieweb !

Do you have a free Hotmail account or a paid one?  If free, do you have Httpmail access?

If no, you will need to use a third party program like Freepops act as an interface between Hotmail and Outlook
http://www.freepops.org/en/

For login name, use full email address.
For POP3 server, use 127.0.0.1
For POP3 port, use 2000

Hope this helps, war1

How do I know if I have Httpmail?

My Hotmail is free.

I think I need freepops, but how do I know for sure?

If you were a member of Hotmail before April 27, 2004, you have been grandfathered into having httpmail.  If not, then you do not have that feature.

Aside from Freepops, you will need a paid Hotmail account to gain POP3 or HTTPmail access to connect to Outlook.
