Very slow Veritas Backup of Exchange Public Folders 2MB/min
My backups are over running because the Exchange public folders are only achieving 2mb/min.
My data goes at around 800mb/min and the mailboxes 80-90mb/min
The logs show the Veritas agents are in use. I'm running Windows 2003 Stand server with Veritas 10 on it's own server. The Exchange is 2003 no sp's (which i think might be part of the problem)
My best guess is that some maintenace needs to be performed on the public store to defragment it?
Thanks for any help!

Don't do brick level backups, but rather just select the information store. That will make the backup a lot faster.

Would a offline defrag of the store help? the pub file is 3Gig but the back in vertias only totals 1Gig
Other than that I guess my only option is to take the Store instead. If i needed to restore single items is this possible? I already have deleted item retention for the users mailboxes. Is the same setting available for public folders?

Ok thanks, Is there any reason why the Mailboxes would go at 80mb/min and the Public at 2mb/min. I would like to keep the option of restoring items if possible as I don't have that much data.
It's more difficult to backup the data from within the store, and it'll also scanned against virii.
