I have a public folder that is now missing info.  I think it was auto archived and I want to restore the data.

    Accepted Solution

Public folders don't do auto archive.
The missing item/items were likely being deleted by mistake. You can use the Recover Deleted Items options (click on the public folder with missing info then select TOOLS from the menu and choose Recover Deleted Items). If data has been removed for longer than 14 days (the default retention period) then you need to restore from a backup.

Ok but where did the information that was in the folder go?  I know it wasnt deleted.  Can this folder get to a certain size and get placed in a holding folder?  Also if a user who has access to this public folder went and auto archived in his outlook client could that have archived the data in this public folder.

This folder is more than 2 yrs old.  information was placed in it and then it wasnt touched until now.  So there were entries from 2005 and then more entries were submitted just days ago.  I can see the entries from Oct 2007 but nothing from 2005 is in there.  I hope this helps.
