Backup exec 10 - cannot install remote agent to a workgroup pc

I am part of a domain and am trying to install the remote agent on a workgroup pc running Win svr 2003 standard. The backup server can see the workgroup pc but if I try to push the agent it gives a message stating the rpc server is not avaliable. I tried to ping the workgroup pc from the domain backup server but get no reply. In my backup job it seems to be connecting the the workgroup server and backin up the required folders using the local agent but there are warnings in the log.  How can I install the agent manually?

How to perform a local installation of the Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Servers or the Advanced Open File Option

Specific to the RPC issue, chances are good that a firewall or something is blocking something in between.  you could verify just by clicking start->run from your main site and typeing \\remoteservernae
it should prompt for a username and password and if you get that and get through, then good, you can rpc to the box.  but anyway, a specific veritas article about this is:

    Document ID: 255826
E-Mail this document to a colleague
When attempting a push install of the Remote Agent for Windows Servers in Backup Exec 9.x and 10.x for Windows Servers to a workstation or server, the error message ''Attempting to connect to \\Server failed with the following error "The RPC server is unavailable"" is returned and the Backup Exec Remote Agent service is not installed.
    Exact Error Message
    The RPC service is unavailable

This occurs when the Backup Exec (tm) request to the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service on the workstation or on the server fails to connect.

    The workaround is as follows:

    1. Copy the RANT32 folder from the Backup Exec CD to the remote workstation or server : X:\WINNT\INSTALL\RANT32.

    - If Backup Exec 10.x is downloaded, then copy the entire RANT32 folder from the default location X:\Program Files\Veritas\Backup Exec\NT\Agents\RANT32 onto  the remote workstation.

    2. On the workstation or server, open the RANT32 folder and run SETUPAA.CMD to perform a Local installation of the Remote Agent for Windows Servers (See Related Documents for more information on this procedure).

Thanks for the info but I managed to connect to the workstation pc by adding a entry for it in the HOSTS file on the server with backup exec 10 installed. I was then able to install the agent using the tool.
