Fail to backup Exchange 2007 Mail Database

I'm trying to backup Exchange 2007 with Backup Exec. I'm able to select the information store and start the backup. It starts fine backing up the databases, but then fails when it verifis the backup.

This is the error I get.
Final error: 0xe0001207 - To support individual mailbox message and folder restores from Information Store backups, you must download and install the Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects package version 06.05.7888 or later on the Exchange 2007 server. This package can be found on the Microsoft web site.  (V-79-57344-4615)

The backup job can backup up Exchange Database, but i can not  restore individual mailboxes from that the backup.

I have downloaded and installed MAPI and CDO 1.2.1. I have even uninstalled it - rebooted - installed it - and rebooted again. I still get the same error.

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Yes, I did.
Service Pack 1, Hot fix 19 , and 21.
have you tried reinstalling over the top with the latest downloadable version?
What version of c:\windows\system32\mapi32.dll do you have on your Exchange server?
If Exchange is on a remote server, did you push out the remote agent again after installing the updates?

is you backup server running Exchange system manger for 2k7?  You typically need the management program of a given DB (ie Exchange or SQL) in order to use BE to back it up completely
I had installed Exchange system Management on the Backup server.
I am able to brows the Exchange Information store to backup.

I had pushed out Remote Agent after installing the Backup Exec updates and reboot the Exchange Server.
The version of mapi32.dll on the Exchange Server is   1.0.2536.0
are you still getting the same error?  Is there anything useful in the Application or System logs on the server?

You may also need Outlook installed on the BE server in order to do the mailbox backups.  There is no harm in installing the software but I will research it today if I have time.

Cheers
mapi32.dll at version 1.0.2536.0 would suggest the MAPI & CDO component did not install correctly.

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/287937.htm suggest this may be due to a previous MAPI version being installed.

https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/22854669/Uninstall-MAPI-Client.html?cid=238 discusses the same problem, but I don't think there is a solution yet. Maybe try the suggestions I made in that thread and report back.
I have the same problem and have completed the same re-install steps - to no avail.
Make sure the Exchange Management Tools are installed on Backup Exec Media server.

Also, for post https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/22854669/Uninstall-MAPI-Client.html?cid=238 this was the fix:
"When I created the job it defauted to my account and not the system account.  Once I changed the default system login to the system account everything worked."

Try both.
I was able to get symantec Tech support.
This is a kind of bug of Symantec Backup Exe 11d.
Thought Exchange Database backup with the option(enable mailbox restore from the backup) to TAPE Device fails, the backup to "Disk" is successful.

I have to run two backup jobs to backup Exchange into Tape devie.
Bakup the database to "disk", and then bakup it to Tape.

Sorry i am a little late to the topic.

You need to have a Backup Exec user account with a MAILBOX on the exchange 2007 server. The Backup Exec account must be visible in the GAL and it must be an EXCHANGE administrator and local admin on the exchange sever.

The credentials for the exchange server backup should then be set to use the new BACKUP EXEC user account.

Without this BE 11d 7170 cant access the database via MAPI.
