Symantec 10.0.2 Server replaced, new one not connecting with clients, cant uninstall clients

Our Symantec Corporate Edition 10.0.2 server blew (hardware); I have reinstalled the server side on our replacement server; is there a way I can "reconnect" the clients to that server and server group?  Server is the same name, same IP.  I tried uninstalling the clients, but they are rejecting my uninstall password (old one and new one were the same, not sure why that's not working).  I also tried reinstalling the client from the server - that runs without error but the server doesn't show the new pc's in the server console, and the clients all still have a latest virus defn of before the original server crash date.  I tried symantec's manual uninstall (4 pages of registry changes) and it didn't work anyways.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Hi,

You can connect the clients with the new server by doing the following:

To change a parent server of a client
1 On the intended parent server, copy the configurations file (Grc.dat) from
\Program Files\SAV\.
2 On the client, paste the configurations file into one of the following folders:
  For Windows 98\Me: C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus
  For Windows NT: C:\Winnt\Profiles\All Users\Application
Data\Symantec\Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5
  For Windows 2000\XP\2003: C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec AntiVirus Corporate
Edition\7.5
3 Restart the client.

I tried uninstalling the clients, but they are rejecting my uninstall password (old one and new one were the same, not sure why that's not working)=> TRY symantec

but the server doesn't show the new pc's in the server console=> Go to Tools>Discovery Service>Run discovery now.
