Symantec 10.0.2 Server replaced, new one not connecting with clients, cant uninstall clients

Our Symantec Corporate Edition 10.0.2 server blew (hardware); I have reinstalled the server side on our replacement server; is there a way I can "reconnect" the clients to that server and server group?  Server is the same name, same IP.  I tried uninstalling the clients, but they are rejecting my uninstall password (old one and new one were the same, not sure why that's not working).  I also tried reinstalling the client from the server - that runs without error but the server doesn't show the new pc's in the server console, and the clients all still have a latest virus defn of before the original server crash date.  I tried symantec's manual uninstall (4 pages of registry changes) and it didn't work anyways.  Any ideas?  Thanks!
