Server 2003 Keyboard & Mouse
After a previous problem with a tape drive I had to edit the registry to remove a Bacupexec tape driver now I have no keyboard or mouse working on a Server 2003 Std. There is a yellow flag in device manager beside keyboard and mouse. Have tried re istalling but no good. Works fine from a RDP session. Have done all the obvious like remove the driver and reinstall, trid USB Kyb & Mouse no joy. Have been using RDP sessions but this has now become urgent.

How about reinstalling the chipset drivers. USB can stop working if the wrong chipset is installed.

also as a suggestion, when they reboot have them try and go into the bios just to test the keyboard for functionality, just to rule out other issues. While they are rebooting it, doesnt hurt to just once again verify that it is software related, and takes only a few seconds to confirm.
Just want to rule out the little things first before digging to deep.

OK got the guys onsite to turn off the server and restart it, still no keyboard or mouse working in windows. Keyboard is working in the bios.
I think this is a registry issue as the last tging I did before it broke was to edit the registry to resolve a Backupexec problem.

Can anybody point me to the registry settings the look after a std PS2 keyboard and mouse on Server 2003? Am getting desperateas the client is getting frustrated.
What happens if you restart in safe mode, do you get the mouse and keyboard working then? If you do, let me know, I have a thought on how to approach figuring out whats causing the issue.

I'm not sure but I'll ask them to try it, it will be tomorrow before I'll be back to you.
