I need a simple function or stored procedure to make a simple encryption of a character field

Say A string with all the letters in random order ("swart.....) call it a key such that a will transform into, b into w etc... nothing fancy.

And a function that will create the key.

simple and very crackable but I need it

Do you want to go a step further and use 'proper' encryption? You need to set it up but then you just use the EncryptByKey function to encrypt stuff.
